The production of "The Tragedie of Macbeth" is designed as a ritual. The action of the play will take place on a square, painted "hawk" stage, representing the altar of a ceremony.

All actors kneel in the shadows to either side of the stage until required to act. Their costumes are for representation of character and role.

This minimalist approach to staging and design is a method of making the production timeless and placeless, for the ishakespearecompany production is an exploration of the mythic and symbolic themes of the play through the character of Macbeth.

All elements have been harnessed to fulfill the ceremony of his life and death.
